February 20, 2015 I have been very wrapped up in the past few months on a television show, which has made me so late in posting about an event I've wanted to share: back in September, our dear friend and client Gillian got married to Mike in upstate New York, wearing Cabiria's first custom bridal dress, based on our Francesca dress from our first season! Aren't they gorgeous together? Now, a few weeks ago, our wonderful friend Shelby opened her bridal shop Ceremonia NYC. She and I have discussed the possibility of Cabiria branching out to do more bridal custom work for plus size brides with our shared aesthetics. Wouldn't that be a wonderful thing? In the meantime, just gaze upon the radiance of Gillian and Mike and that custom iridescent faille Cabiria dress.

I'm so thrilled to announce this: Astoria's own Lockwood Shop will be expanding to include Lockwood Style, a women's clothing store next door to their current home goods and gift store at 32-15 33rd Street, , NY (yes!) 11106, near the N/Q lines at the Broadway stop. Best yet, owner Mackenzi Farquer is devoting 50% of the floor space to Plus Size lines, including Cabiria and La Strada per CABIRIA! She's planning an October 2014 opening, and I am so very pleased to have a brick and mortar store in NYC carrying Plus Size again. To have one a mere 4 blocks from Cabiria HQ is a miracle! The new collections are here! Following a soft launch with a successful pop up sale in Chicago and a fantastic NYFW charity fashion show to benefit Care for the Homeless and Susan's Place Women's Shelter in New York City, we have officially launched the La Strada per CABIRIA and Cabiria Autumn/ Winter 2015 collections. Really big news today - for the past few months, I've realized that Cabiria is missing an element. We are an aspirational brand, using high quality fabrics and finishes, which due to the cost of materials demands that we charge a higher amount. The brand is incredibly well received, but I want more women to have access to our pieces. With that in mind, we will soon be unveiling our new, lower price point line, La Strada per CABIRIA.

The press sometimes releases some gorgeous shots of our pieces, and that's the case with the Curvaceous Inc Magazine March 2014 out of London, UK. MS.SVG is our stockist in London, and they have the last Flaminia dresses in Black Sateen, which is in this pictorial. Enjoy!

We have had an astounding amount of global press in the past few days preceding the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Show! The avalanche started like this:

I had been interviewed several weeks ago by Tyler McCall at Fashionista.com's article on plus women's shopping dilemmas. Right as that happened, I was asked to participate in NYFW in the main venue, and it was quickly discovered that that had never happened before for a plus size line. Fashionista then added me to another article with Tim Gunn discussing the "repugnant choices" plus women have in major department stores currently [his words]. Then, a few days ago, Fashionista published their big scoop, that Cabiria would be the first plus designer featured at NYFW.

My social media feeds blew up. I do know a lot of people in the fashion world, but didn't realize how big this was going to get... until the next day, when The Daily Mail in the UK picked up the story on their news feed.

Then Refinery 29's article hit. R29 is another hugely influential fashion site who posted about me, and from there, the world. Literally. So far, I've been contacted by press from all over the US, the UK, Australia,Brazil, Belgium, The Netherlands, Indonesia, Kenya, and Qatar.

There has been much going on since the last update here, but the one I'll let you know about is this: Cabiria has been invited to take part in New York Fashion Week in the tent shows. It will be September 6th, the first show of the second day, right before the Project Runway show. Cabiria is the first plus designer to EVER be invited to show at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Shows. Ever. This is such a huge milestone for legitimizing plus fashion, and incredibly exciting for me personally. I will update you all as we have more information and photos. In the meantime, I've got a lot of work to do!

In the meantime, this happened: We have been incredibly fortunate to be included in some big time television and theatrical productions in the past few weeks, too! In New Orleans and Los Angeles, the new musical UPSTAIRS played to sold out crowds, and starred the lovely Katrina McGraw as Inez. This part of the website has been updated in part because I've been updating on the Blog and the Press sides of the site, but this is definitely big news: We are hitting the road for a Store Tour! As a big thank you to all the lovely Upper Midwestern folks who have been selling out Cabiria's dresses at Bombshell Boutique in St. Paul, Vive La Femme in Chicago, and Boutique Larrieux in Milwaukee, I am going to be coming to do 3 in store events and bringing lots of Cabiria pieces for you to try on and take home with you!

I'll be coming to

Chicago, IL to Vive La Femme (2048 N. Damen in Bucktown, Chicago, IL 60647) on Friday, June 21st from 6pm - 8pm

And St. Paul, MN to Bombshell Boutique (794 Grand Ave St. Paul, MN 55105) on Saturday, June 22nd from 4pm - 8pm

I know the shop owners all have fun stuff planned, from giveaways to manicures to cupcakes, so please come out and meet me! I can't wait to show you my dresses and meet you all.

FUNDED!!! Thanks to everyone who participated in our Kickstarter Project, we reached $13,254, a whopping 165% of our initial fundraising goal, to become the MOST SUCCESSFUL PLUS SIZE CAMPAIGN EVER in Kickstarter history! I am so incredibly grateful for all your support and belief in what we can accomplish together. I will be very busy in the coming weeks getting your incentives together and shipped out, getting the line into production in the factory, and delivering to retailers both online and brick and mortar near you. I am so thrilled that you helped me make this come true! Happy Thanksgiving!

What a great day! In addition to launching the line and getting huge amounts of wonderful feedback and interest on social media platforms, we got approved for our Kickstarter Project! It's called Get Cabiria Plus Size SS13 Collection Into Stores and that's exactly what we plan to do.

We have until November 21st - the day before Thanksgiving - at 5:08pm EST to raise $8,000 or we get nothing at all. What a challenge, but one I know we can meet. The $8,000 is to pay for grading (sizing up and down) costs for each pattern, factory productions fees (higher here in the US than abroad, but so important to keep skilled jobs local), shipping costs, website development, and marketing to let the buyers know about our SS13 line.

If we raise more than $8,000, I have big plans, including expanding production abilities, printing our own fabrics, showing the line at trade shows, upgrading our website and e-store, expanding into new markets, and paying photographers, models, assistants and web developers, etc. a fair wage for their services.

I NEED YOUR HELP TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL!!! Please donation what you can; we have great incentives in the offer starting at ridiculously low pledge amounts, so that little drop in the bucket plus others makes for a huge flood. And even if you don't choose to contribute, please boost the signal by passing along the message to all your pals. Anyone who believes in equality entitlement, or body pride, or American small business entrepreneurship, or just beautiful clothes. Every ripple outward helps.

OPENING DAY! It's here, it's here! After many months of hard work, today is launch day for the new website, the e-store for presales and wholesale, the unveiling of the SS13 Lookbook, Collection in catalog view, and the Behind the Scenes video, which shows the making of our lookbook, and is an important part of our Fundraising Campaign.

Currently we are waiting final approval from Kickstarter to launch that campaign, which means that while there are links to the campaign on our Incentives page and our Thank You page, they are not yet functioning links. I know this already, so no worries! As soon as that campaign goes live, I will let you all know, for sure.

We are also listed as "Coming Soon" on all the items in our Online store. This is to give an opportunity to Plus Size boutiques to order for delivery in late winter so you can all have access up close and personal with our sumptuous clothes. Once we cover presales, I will open the store up at a retail level for online direct to you ordering.
